FedACH is a nationwide electronic payment and information network that processes credit and debit transactions for financial institutions. Operated by the U.S. Federal Reserve Banks, it is one of the two main ACH operators in the United States, alongside the Electronic Payments Network (EPN). The service is a critical component of the national financial infrastructure, facilitating direct deposits of payroll, government and Social Security benefits, as well as direct payments for consumer bills, mortgage and loan repayments, and business-to-business payments. Its mission is to provide a safe, efficient, and accessible payment system for the U.S. economy.
