Originally chartered in 1954 as the Briarcliff Manor Teachers Federal Credit Union, the Academic Federal Credit Union (AFCU) is a not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to serving its members. It has since expanded its field of membership to include employees, students, retirees, and family members from over 80 schools and educational organizations in Westchester County, Rockland County, and the Bronx. The credit union's mission is to provide its members with a full range of affordable financial services, including savings and checking accounts, loans, and investment products, while promoting financial well-being within the educational community.
