8 Securities (acquired by SoFi)
Information by Research TrustFinance
Originally founded in 2012 as 8 Securities, the company was one of Asia's early fintech pioneers, launching one of the first robo-advisors in the region and later introducing zero-commission stock trading. Its mission was to make investing simple and accessible for a new generation of investors. In April 2020, 8 Securities was acquired by the major US-based digital personal finance company, SoFi (Social Finance, Inc.), as a strategic entry into the Asian market. Following the acquisition, the company was fully rebranded to SoFi Hong Kong and now operates as its regional hub, continuing to offer trading in US, Hong Kong, and Chinese A-shares, alongside automated investing services.
