A crypto withdrawal can show one fee on the platform and a different cost on the blockchain. Start with what the platform says it will deduct and what the recipient should receive. Then compare the actual records. Adding every number labelled “network fee” can count the same customer charge twice.
This TrustFinance™ guide explains how to reconcile a transfer, without ranking providers or routes. A quote is an estimate or confirmation under a service’s terms. A blockchain receipt concerns network activity. Neither alone proves that a custodial receiving account has been credited or that tokens can be cashed out.
Ethereum: gas and network fees describes gas as computational effort on Ethereum and explains network fees paid in ETH. That protocol cost is different from a platform’s customer billing. It does not require the platform to charge its customer in ETH. In self-custody, check the required native gas balance separately from the token being sent; other chains and sponsored arrangements need their own instructions.
Coinbase Exchange: withdrawal minimums and fees says the estimated charge to customers may differ from the network fee Coinbase ultimately pays, including because of batching or congestion. The combined customer estimates for a batch can exceed its actual network cost. This is Coinbase Exchange documentation, not a rule for every Coinbase product. A batch receipt does not allocate an equal cost to each withdrawal or establish your contractual refund entitlement.
Kraken: cryptocurrency withdrawal fees and minimums directs readers to the final confirmation because withdrawal charges can change and differ from its help page. Check the actual asset, network, product, minimum and account terms. Do not compare an old support-page figure with a new quote as if both were valid at the same time.
A zero customer network charge can mean someone else bears the cost. Coinbase Global Exchange: withdrawal and network conditions provides a separate product-specific example of sponsored network fees with network conditions. It does not establish eligibility for other accounts, nor a permanent free route. We do not reproduce its waiver as a current recommendation. A cheaper unsupported network can lead to permanent loss.
Both alternatives use one fictional token for the transfer and the customer fee, with no fiat peg or price. Assume no token transfer tax, rebase, conversion, receiving fee or other balance change. In these quotes the platform charge includes its network-cost component; no second gas debit is assumed. Actual blockchain expense is deliberately unpriced.
In the included-fee alternative, the quote explicitly says total debit 100 units, including a fee of 2, and recipient amount 98. The reconciliation is 100 minus 2 equals 98. Do not subtract another 2 from 98 or add an explorer’s network fee to the 100 customer debit.
In a separate added-fee alternative, the quote explicitly says recipient amount 100 and a further same-token fee of 2. Total customer debit is 102 because 100 plus 2 equals 102. These are separate examples, not successive transfers. An input box marked “amount” does not tell you which arrangement applies.
If a real fee is charged in another asset, keep separate asset ledgers. Adding token units to ETH units is meaningless without a stated conversion and valuation time. A real receiving credit can also differ when conditions excluded from this teaching model apply.
Save the official receiving instructions, token identity or contract where relevant, supported network, address and required memo or tag. The same ticker or similar address format does not make networks interchangeable. Check withdrawal and receiving minimums independently; a tiny test below a deposit minimum may not be credited.
Keep the timestamp, time zone, quote expiry if any, product and account, fee asset, total debit and expected recipient amount. Ask whether the quoted fee already includes network costs and which charges, if any, remain separate. Resolve unclear wording before approval rather than guessing from the fee label.
Compare the completed withdrawal entry with the quote in the same asset. Separate a hold or pending reservation from a posted debit and any later reversal. Record additional charges only when supported by an actual entry and applicable terms. An unrelated trade or balance movement can spoil a simple before-and-after comparison.
Keep the transaction hash, exact chain, status, destination and token-transfer details where relevant. A batch may contain other recipients, so its entire value and network expense need not belong to you. A hash alone does not establish successful execution, sufficient receiving confirmations or correct account attribution.
Find the recipient’s deposit record for the correct asset, network and account. Compare the credited amount and any stated receiving charge with the transfer record. A visible on-chain receipt is different from a platform’s available account balance. Conversion and bank cash-out are further steps with their own conditions.
Locate the first mismatch: quote versus debit, debit versus transfer details, or transfer versus receiving credit. Ask the sending service about quote and debit discrepancies; ask the receiving service about a deposit visible on-chain but missing from its account. Provide timestamps and public transaction references through verified support channels. Never provide private keys or recovery phrases, and do not pay a stranger promising guaranteed recovery.
Do not treat pending, rejected before inclusion and included but failed execution as the same state. Ethereum’s gas documentation distinguishes a pre-inclusion validation rejection that consumes no gas from an execution that runs out of gas after inclusion and consumes the supplied gas. This does not determine a platform’s separate charge or refund policy. Check the receipt and terms before claiming every failed attempt is free or chargeable. Resolve the original status before resending and risking a duplicate transfer.
Only a separately payable charge supported by your quote and debit belongs in your customer-cost ledger. The explorer can show the platform’s underlying expense, including a batch expense. Its existence is not evidence of another customer debit.
You cannot infer that from a fee label. Both ends must support the exact route; minimums, receiving charges and other conditions matter. A lower charge cannot compensate for an unsupported transfer or establish safe custody.
No. Verify actual account credit, applicable confirmation requirements and access conditions. It also does not prove fiat conversion, bank receipt or the recipient’s legitimacy.
Sources checked on 27 October 2026. Ethereum facts concern that protocol; exchange statements concern the named product pages. The language of this guide does not establish jurisdiction, availability or customer eligibility. Source update dates are not current fee quotes. Recheck official terms before acting and keep dated evidence. All numerical examples are invented, not actual tariffs or a provider, asset or investment recommendation.
