Information by Research Trustfinance
The Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) is the independent public authority responsible for ensuring that savings invested in financial products are protected, providing investors with information, and ensuring the orderly functioning of markets. Established by the French Financial Security Act of 1 August 2003, it was formed from the merger of the Commission des Opérations de Bourse (COB), the Conseil des Marchés Financiers (CMF), and the Conseil de Discipline de la Gestion Financière (CDGF). The AMF's core missions include regulating financial market participants, authorising new products, monitoring markets and disclosures, and, where necessary, inspecting, investigating, and sanctioning entities to enforce financial regulations.
