Founded in 1990, Shared Interest Society is a social lender and financial co-operative. Its mission is to build a more equitable world by providing financial services and business support to producers and buyers in the fair trade sector who may be overlooked by mainstream finance. The society operates by pooling the investments of its members to offer loans and credit facilities, enabling smallholder farmers and artisans to trade, grow their businesses, and improve their livelihoods. As a co-operative, it is owned and controlled by its members who share a common goal of investing for social impact.
