Founded in 1893 in Richmond, Virginia, Scott & Stringfellow was a well-established financial services firm providing wealth management, brokerage, and investment banking services to individuals, families, institutions, and corporations. The firm was acquired by the bank holding company BB&T in 1999 and was rebranded as BB&T Scott & Stringfellow. In 2019, BB&T merged with SunTrust Banks to form Truist Financial Corporation. Following the merger, the BB&T Scott & Stringfellow brand was retired, and its operations were fully absorbed into the Truist Wealth division.
