RupayLoan was not a formally registered company but a mobile application that provided instant, short-term personal loans to individuals in India. It operated by promising quick and easy access to credit with minimal documentation. However, the application became notorious for charging exorbitant interest rates and processing fees, as well as employing aggressive and illegal collection tactics, including harassing borrowers and accessing their personal phone data (contacts, photos) for blackmail purposes. It was one of many such apps that Indian authorities and Google have cracked down on and removed from official platforms.
