Established in 1990 by the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden), Nefco is an international financial institution (IFI) dedicated to financing the green transition. It serves the interests of its Nordic owner countries by providing financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to help them scale up their green technologies and sustainable solutions globally. Nefco's mission is to accelerate the shift to a green economy by funding projects that have a positive environmental and climate impact, acting as "the Nordic Green Bank." It offers a range of financing instruments, including loans, equity, and grants, and also manages funds on behalf of various governments and institutions.
