The National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA) was established in February 2000 by the National Pension Scheme Act No. 40 of 1996. Its primary mandate is to administer the National Pension Scheme throughout Zambia. The authority is responsible for registering members and employers, collecting mandatory contributions, investing the scheme's funds prudently to ensure their growth and sustainability, and paying out benefits to eligible members upon retirement, death, or invalidity. NAPSA plays a crucial role in the social and economic fabric of Zambia by providing a safety net for the nation's formal sector workforce.
