Monarch Community Bancorp, Inc. was a Michigan-based corporation established in 1997 to serve as the holding company for Monarch Community Bank. The bank provided a full range of commercial and retail banking services, including various deposit and loan products, to individuals and businesses primarily in Branch and Calhoun counties in Southern Michigan. It operated with a community-focused mission, aiming to provide personalized financial services. On October 1, 2015, Monarch Community Bancorp, Inc. was acquired by and merged into Southern Michigan Bancorp, Inc., the holding company for Southern Michigan Bank & Trust. As a result, the company and its subsidiary bank ceased to exist as independent entities.
