Originally launched by Danske Bank in Denmark in 2013, MobilePay became a standalone company and a dominant payment solution in Denmark and Finland. In 2022, it merged with the Norwegian payment leader, Vipps, to form Vipps MobilePay AS. The company's mission is to simplify payments and create the best user experience for its millions of private users and hundreds of thousands of merchants across the Nordics. The platform facilitates a wide range of electronic payments, including instant money transfers between individuals, payments in physical stores via QR codes, e-commerce checkouts, and recurring invoice payments, all through a single mobile application.
