Founded in 2016 by Mona El Isa and Reto Trinkler, Melonport AG's mission was to create the Melon Protocol, a blockchain-based system for managing and investing in digital assets in a decentralized manner. The company successfully raised funds via an ICO in 2017 to finance the development. After the launch of the Melon Protocol v1.0 on the Ethereum mainnet in March 2019, Melonport AG was dissolved in a planned "M-0" event, handing over governance to the Melon Council DAO. The protocol has since been upgraded and rebranded to Enzyme Finance, with the original founding team continuing its work under a new entity called Avantgarde Finance.
