Founded in 1935, Maine State Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to providing high-quality financial products and services to its members. Originally established to serve Maine state employees, it has since expanded its field of membership to include anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Kennebec or Somerset counties. As a credit union, its mission is to serve its members' financial needs, returning profits to them in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings dividends, and improved services rather than paying outside stockholders.
