Lender Processing Services, Inc. (LPS)
Information by Research TrustFinance
Lender Processing Services, Inc. (LPS), a spin-off from Fidelity National Financial (FNF) in 2008, was a major provider of mortgage processing, settlement services, and default management solutions in the United States. The company's core offering was its Mortgage Servicing Platform (MSP), a comprehensive software system used by financial institutions to manage all aspects of the mortgage lifecycle. Following the 2008 financial crisis, LPS faced significant legal and regulatory scrutiny for its role in the "robo-signing" scandal related to foreclosure documents. In 2014, LPS was re-acquired by Fidelity National Financial and was later integrated into a new entity, Black Knight, Inc. Black Knight continued as a market leader in mortgage and real estate technology until it was acquired by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in September 2023.
