Founded in 1985, the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) is a trade organization whose mission is to foster safe and efficient derivatives markets to facilitate effective risk management for all users of derivative products. ISDA achieves this by creating standardized legal documentation, most notably the ISDA Master Agreement, which provides the contractual framework for the vast majority of OTC derivative transactions globally. The association also engages in advocacy, sets industry standards and protocols, and provides research and educational resources for its more than 1,000 member institutions across dozens of countries.
