Founded as iZettle in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2010 by Jacob de Geer and Magnus Nilsson, the company's mission was to empower small businesses to accept card payments and manage their sales. iZettle launched the world's first mini chip card reader and mobile app for commerce. In May 2018, the company was acquired by PayPal for $2.2 billion.
