First appointed by the German government in April 2001, the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE) is tasked with advising the federal government on its sustainability policy and fostering social dialogue on sustainability issues. Comprised of 15 public figures from various sectors of society, the Council operates independently to generate contributions for the German Sustainability Strategy, propose projects for its implementation, and enhance the public profile of sustainability as a guiding principle. Its work includes issuing policy recommendations, organizing public events, and promoting sustainable finance and corporate responsibility.
