Founded in 1992 as a state-owned export-import bank, EximBank's original mission was to support Romanian exporters and international trade. Over the years, it has evolved into a full-fledged universal bank, now serving all segments of the corporate sector—from SMEs to large corporations—as well as individual clients following its acquisition of Banca Românească. EximBank uniquely combines commercial banking activities (financing, guarantees, cash management, treasury) with state-mandated functions, such as acting on behalf of the Romanian state to provide state guarantees and export credit insurance.
