credit guarantee and investment facility
Information by Research TrustFinance
Established in 2010 by the governments of the ASEAN+3 countries (the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations plus China, Japan, and Korea) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF) is a multilateral facility with a key mission to promote financial stability and boost economic development in the region. CGIF's primary function is to provide credit guarantees for local currency-denominated bonds issued by corporations in ASEAN+3. By guaranteeing these bonds, CGIF helps well-rated companies access local capital markets for funding, thereby reducing their reliance on foreign currency-denominated debt and fostering the growth and liquidity of the region's bond markets.
