Founded in 1948 as the Colonial Development Corporation, CDC Group plc was the UK's development finance institution (DFI), wholly owned by the UK Government. In April 2022, the company was rebranded to British International Investment (BII) to more accurately reflect its modern strategy. BII's mission is to help solve major global development challenges by investing patient, flexible capital to support private sector growth and innovation. It provides capital in various forms, including equity, debt, and guarantees, to businesses in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, aiming to create productive, sustainable, and inclusive economic outcomes.
