Originally founded in 1995 as Calvert Foundation, the organization rebranded to Calvert Impact Capital in 2017 and later shortened its name to Calvert Impact in 2022. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that enables individuals and institutions to invest for social and environmental good. Through its flagship product, the Community Investment Note®, Calvert Impact raises capital from a diverse pool of investors and lends it to organizations worldwide working in sectors like affordable housing, renewable energy, microfinance, and small business development. Its mission is to create a more equitable and sustainable world by channeling capital to communities underserved by traditional financial markets.
