Established by an Act of Parliament in 1969, the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) is the central bank and primary financial services regulator for Bermuda. The BMA's mission is to protect and enhance Bermuda's reputation and position as a leading international financial centre. Its responsibilities include supervising and regulating financial institutions, issuing Bermuda's national currency, managing exchange control transactions, assisting in the detection and prevention of financial crime, and advising the Government of Bermuda on financial and monetary matters.
