Yield Protocol was a project developed by Yield Inc. that aimed to bring the stability of traditional fixed-income markets to the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem. Launched in October 2020, the protocol allowed users to borrow and lend assets on Ethereum at fixed interest rates for specified periods, a contrast to the variable rates common in other DeFi protocols. In late 2023, the team announced they would be winding down the protocol, citing a combination of insufficient sustainable demand for fixed-rate borrowing in DeFi and increasing regulatory pressures. The protocol officially ceased operations on December 29, 2023.
