Founded in 2011 as TransferWise by Kristo Käärmann and Taavet Hinrikus, Wise was created to make international money transfers cheaper, faster, and more transparent by using the real mid-market exchange rate. The company has since expanded its services to include a multi-currency account that allows users to hold over 50 currencies, a debit card for spending abroad, and a comprehensive business account. Wise's mission is to build "money without borders" – instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually free. The company is publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: WISE).
