Thread Capital is a U.S. Treasury-certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) focused on fostering small business growth in North Carolina. Operating as a nonprofit, its mission is to provide access to capital, business coaching, and valuable network connections for entrepreneurs who may not qualify for traditional bank loans. The organization places a special emphasis on supporting small businesses run by people of color, women, low-income individuals, and those in rural communities. It was launched by the NC Rural Center to address funding gaps and empower local economies across the state.
