Originally established as Tameer Microfinance Bank in 2005 and later acquired and rebranded as Telenor Microfinance Bank (TMB) in 2016, the institution has been at the forefront of financial inclusion in Pakistan. It was a joint venture between Telenor Group and Ant Group (an affiliate of Alibaba Group). In March 2024, following the acquisition of Telenor's shares by Daraz (an e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba Group), the bank was rebranded to Daraz Bank Limited. The bank's mission is to empower the unbanked and underbanked segments of society by offering innovative and accessible digital payment and micro-financial services, with its flagship platform, Easypaisa, leading the country's mobile banking sector.
