Ren Labs, officially Ren Labs Pte. Ltd., was a technology company that developed the Ren protocol, an open and permissionless protocol for transferring digital assets across different blockchains. Its flagship product, RenBridge, allowed users to mint wrapped versions of assets like Bitcoin (renBTC) on other networks, primarily Ethereum, to use in DeFi applications. Founded in 2017 by Taiyang Zhang and Loong Wang, the project was acquired by Alameda Research in 2021. Following the collapse of FTX and Alameda Research in late 2022, Ren Labs lost its funding and announced it would wind down operations, leading to the shutdown of the Ren 1.0 network and RenBridge.
