It does not offer regulated financial advice but helps individuals understand the choices available to them at retirement, such as taking a cash lump sum, setting up a flexible retirement income (drawdown), or buying a guaranteed income for life (annuity). The service is delivered by the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) and can be accessed through pre-booked phone appointments or face-to-face appointments via delivery partners like Citizens Advice.
