Established on April 26, 1956, under the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 1955, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is the central monetary, regulatory, and supervisory authority of Nepal. Its core mission is to maintain macroeconomic stability by formulating and implementing monetary, foreign exchange, and financial sector policies. The bank is responsible for issuing currency, managing the country's foreign exchange reserves, acting as the banker and financial advisor to the Government of Nepal, and regulating and supervising banks and financial institutions (BFIs) to ensure the stability and integrity of the nation's financial system.
