Launched in May 2013 by the Nasdaq OMX Group, NLX was a regulated market designed to compete with established European derivatives exchanges like Eurex and Liffe. Its key value proposition was a "single pot" clearing model, allowing market participants to portfolio-margin both short-term interest rate (STIRs) and long-term interest rate (LTIRs) futures in a single account, aiming to provide significant capital efficiencies. Despite its innovative approach, the platform struggled to gain sufficient trading volume and market share. In April 2017, Nasdaq announced the closure of the NLX market.
