Founded in 2014 by Cato Pastoll and Brandon Vlaar, Lending Loop is a peer-to-peer (P2P) online lending platform designed to facilitate debt financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada. The platform allows businesses to apply for loans, which are then funded by a community of individual and institutional investors. Lending Loop's mission is to create a more efficient and accessible financial system by directly connecting borrowers with lenders, offering businesses better interest rates and providing investors with a new asset class. In 2016, it became the first P2P lending platform to be registered as an Exempt Market Dealer (EMD) with provincial securities commissions in Canada, adding a layer of regulatory oversight to its operations.
