Incorporated in 1996 as a public limited company, International Leasing And Financial Services Limited (ILFSL) is a non-bank financial institution (NBFI) licensed by the Bangladesh Bank. The company offers a variety of financial products including lease finance, term finance, and real estate finance, alongside several deposit schemes. Historically, it aimed to contribute to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. However, in recent years, the company has become the center of one of the country's largest financial scandals involving massive loan embezzlement, leading to the intervention of the Bangladesh Bank and the High Court, which appointed a new board to restructure the company and recover funds for its depositors.
