Founded in 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, HelloGold's mission was to democratize asset-based savings and lending for the underserved market in Asia. The company launched the world's first Shariah-compliant mobile gold platform, allowing customers to buy and sell physical gold starting from as little as RM1 (Malaysian Ringgit). The platform aimed to provide financial inclusion by making gold, a traditional safe-haven asset, accessible to everyone through a simple and secure mobile app. Despite initial success and expansion into Thailand, the company announced the cessation of its Malaysian operations in February 2021 and has since wound down its services.
