Founded in 1908 in the town of Happy, Texas, Happy State Bank grew from a small community institution into a prominent regional bank serving communities throughout the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, Austin, Central Texas, and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. In April 2022, Happy Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of Happy State Bank, was acquired by Home BancShares, Inc., and Happy State Bank was merged with Centennial Bank, now operating as "Happy State Bank, a division of Centennial Bank".
