FrontPoint Financial

Information by Research TrustFinance

Founded in 2000, FrontPoint Partners was a hedge fund investment firm based in Greenwich, Connecticut. It operated as a multi-strategy platform, allowing different portfolio management teams to run independent investment strategies under a single operational and risk-management umbrella. The firm gained significant public recognition through the book and film "The Big Short," which chronicled the successful subprime mortgage short strategy led by its portfolio manager, Steve Eisman. At its peak, the firm managed several billion dollars in assets. However, it faced significant challenges after a 2009 insider trading scandal involving one of its healthcare fund managers, leading to massive investor withdrawals. Morgan Stanley, which had acquired a stake in the firm, ultimately decided to shut down most of FrontPoint's funds and operations in 2011.
