Founded in 2009, Comunitae was one of Spain's first and leading crowdlending platforms. It enabled individuals and SMEs to obtain financing directly from a community of investors, bypassing traditional banking channels. The platform facilitated both P2P loans (for individuals) and P2B loans (for businesses). In 2015, Comunitae was acquired by Zencap, which was subsequently acquired by the global platform Funding Circle. In early 2019, Funding Circle announced the cessation of its operations in Spain, effectively closing the platform that was once Comunitae.
