The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) is a non-profit organization founded in 1985 that serves the public by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning. The CFP Board sets and enforces the standards for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, which is the recognized standard of excellence for competent and ethical personal financial planning. Its mission is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning. As part of its public service, the CFP Board operates a "Find a CFP® Professional" tool to help consumers locate and verify financial planners who have met its rigorous requirements.
