Originally established as the financial services division of Walmart Chile's Lider supermarkets, Banco Lider aimed to provide accessible credit and financial products to the supermarket's broad customer base. In 2018, Banco de Crédito e Inversiones (Bci) acquired 100% of Walmart Chile's financial services operations. The services were subsequently rebranded and are now operated as "Lider Bci," combining the retail reach of Lider with the financial backing and expertise of Bci. The primary offerings include the Lider Bci credit card, consumer loans, and associated insurance products targeted at the mass consumer market in Chile.
