American Life Insurance Company
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 1921, American Life Insurance Company (Alico) grew to become a significant global provider of life insurance, accident and health insurance, retirement planning, and wealth management solutions. For many years, it operated as a subsidiary of American International Group (AIG). Following the 2008 financial crisis, AIG sold Alico to MetLife, Inc. for approximately $16.2 billion in a deal that closed in 2010. The acquisition massively expanded MetLife's global footprint, particularly in Japan and Europe, making it a premier global life insurance and employee benefits company. Today, all of Alico's former operations and policies are managed under the MetLife brand.
