Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, was a government agency responsible for distributing public funding to challenging research, development, and innovation projects in companies, universities, and research institutes in Finland. Its mission was to promote the competitiveness of Finnish industry and the service sector by assisting in the creation of world-class technology and technological know-how. On January 1, 2018, Tekes merged with Finpro (the Finnish trade promotion organization) to create Business Finland, which now combines all services related to innovation funding, internationalization, investment, and tourism promotion under one organization.
