The company engaged in principal trading, using its own capital to trade a wide range of financial products, including equities, futures, options, and fixed-income securities across various international exchanges. Known for its advanced, low-latency trading technology and sophisticated quantitative models, the firm was a significant market maker and liquidity provider. In July 2017, it was announced that Sun Trading would be acquired by a larger competitor, Hudson River Trading (HRT), with the acquisition being finalized in early 2018.
