The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC Housing) was created by the General Assembly in 1971. As the state's housing finance agency, its mission is to create quality affordable housing opportunities for the citizens of South Carolina. SC Housing is a self-sustaining agency and operates using no state-appropriated tax dollars. It offers a variety of programs for homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and developers, including low-interest mortgage loans, down payment assistance, housing tax credits for developers, and emergency housing assistance.
