Formed in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC), the company rebranded to do business as "REDC Community Capital" in 2021. Its mission is to be a community partner providing access to capital and resources for small businesses and community development projects. As a certified CDFI, it aims to foster economic growth and create opportunities in the communities it serves by offering a variety of loan programs and business support services.
