Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 1992, Option One Mortgage Corporation (OOMC) was a significant player in the United States' non-prime residential mortgage market. As a subsidiary of H&R Block, it specialized in originating, acquiring, selling, and servicing subprime loans for borrowers with imperfect credit histories. The company was heavily impacted by the subprime mortgage crisis and was sold by H&R Block in 2007. It ultimately ceased all lending operations and was closed down in 2008 amid widespread defaults and regulatory scrutiny.
