Founded in 1816, the Oesterreichische Nationalbank is the central bank of Austria and, as such, is a key component of the Eurosystem. Its primary mission is to maintain price stability and contribute to a stable financial system in Austria and the euro area. The OeNB's core responsibilities include implementing the single monetary policy, managing foreign reserve assets, ensuring the provision of cash, overseeing payment systems, collecting financial statistics, and contributing to banking supervision in cooperation with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) and the European Central Bank (ECB).
