National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Limited
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 2002, the National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Limited (NMCE) was a pioneering online commodity exchange in India. It was promoted by various entities including the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) and the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED). The exchange provided a platform for trading in futures contracts for a wide range of agricultural commodities. In 2017, NMCE merged with the Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX), a move aimed at creating a stronger, more comprehensive national-level commodity exchange, which became India's third-largest. Following the merger, the NMCE entity ceased to operate independently.
