Founded in 1976, Mountain Association (officially Mountain Association for Community Economic Development, Inc.) is a nonprofit organization and a federally certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Its mission is to invest in people and places in Eastern Kentucky to advance a just transition to a new, more diverse and equitable economy. The organization achieves this by providing loans to existing and startup businesses, offering technical and business support services, and leading research and advocacy for regional economic development.
