Established in 1929, the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) is an administrative agency of the State of Minnesota. Its mission is to provide retirement security to Minnesota's public employees by administering various benefit plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and deferred compensation plans. MSRS serves over 120,000 active, deferred, and retired members from state agencies, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, and other public entities. The agency is responsible for managing member and employer contributions, investing plan assets, and paying out retirement, disability, and survivor benefits.
