Kiva
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 2005, Kiva is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that allows people to lend money via the internet to low-income entrepreneurs and students in over 70 countries. Kiva's mission is to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. Lenders browse profiles of borrowers on the Kiva website and choose who to lend to, with loan amounts starting at $25. Kiva itself does not collect any interest on the loans, and lenders do not receive interest. When the loan is repaid, the lender can withdraw their money or re-lend it to another borrower.
